Fairfax Water is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Director of Administration, a key senior leadership position that has broad responsibility for directing and coordinating the strategic planning, communications, risk management, environmental health and safety, human resources and organizational development functions of the organization.

Fairfax Water is a respected leader in the drinking water industry, providing service to over two million residents and thousands of businesses in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. Fairfax Water is Virginia’s largest water utility and is one of the 25 largest water utilities in the country. Through a talented and dedicated staff of 483 people, Fairfax Water operates two treatment plants with a combined production capacity of 345 MGD and a distribution system comprised of over 4,000 miles of water main with over 280,000 metered connections. Fairfax Water is committed to long-term infrastructure and financial planning, has the one of the lowest commodity rates in the Washington D.C. metropolitan region, and maintains a triple-AAA bond rating.

The Director of Administration is a new position that will report directly to the General Manager. The Director will be expected to combine a strategic perspective with strong administrative and management skills, to work collaboratively and creatively with other Division Directors, and to advance strategic objectives. The selected candidate will have demonstrated senior leadership experience and be able to effectively interface with the Fairfax Water Board, elected officials, internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and regulators.
