Thinking about inclusion in OD

Diversity and inclusion in the work place is a hot topic of conversation. It came into focus over the past year with people across the US protesting to raise awareness on inequities, particularly in policing. The current climate creates an opportunity for organizations to build more inclusive work places.
Donna Ginn, CEO of Crossroad Consulting Group, a 26 year global Organization and Management Development consulting practice, led the March 2021 GIODN virtual meeting entitled ” Inclusion: The Big Change Challenge.” This session was conducted as a workshop, giving participants ample time to think through the material presented and craft plans that are applicable to their work.
Ms. Ginn discussed the transition from mere diversity to focus on inclusion. She acknowledged simply hiring for diversity is not enough and truly successful organizations incorporate the work and perspectives of diverse staff into their processes. This is easier said than done, but can be achieved through intentional practices for inclusion. Ms. Ginn discussed and modeled these practices in the workshop and coached participants through their own creative discussions on the topic.
