VP Thoughts – Marking one somber year

We had no idea what was in store for us at the beginning of 2020. We didn’t know how drastically our lives would change and how many would be lost along the way. This month marks one year since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic in the US. We have lost over half a million lives and the rest of us had to make major adaptations to our work and our lives.
Women have borne a special burden as they are often the ones who take the primary responsibility for the children now learning from home. They sacrificed their careers and their sanity along the way. The pandemic did force many people and companies to become nimble and accustomed to remote work — things I hope that will remain part of our working lives moving forward.
As we mark this somber anniversary, I encourage you to take a moment to look back at the good and the bad of the past year. Take a moment to check in with yourself too. We all had to shift and cope. Now is a great time to engage in some mindfulness practices and to assess our paths forward. We can do it together.
